The wasteland narrative game project

                                The Wasteland (Narrative Game Project)  
 
This was one of the projects I have made during my time during Game development. Its simply called the Wasteland and its a narrative game about a post apocalyptical wasteland where you and your family need to get water for you to survive with the 2nd or 3rd player being opponents who also need the water in order to survive. it goes from point A to point B and along the way you will encounter enemies as well gain inventory and making sure you don't die. Originally the scope of the narrative was suppose to be a haunted house with a bit of the same premise however i though it sounded extremely boring and basic and so I decided to change it. One major hurdle was the creation of the cards and variation and trying to avoid any of the same cards or mechanically feel the same. Along side creating the "Narrative" part of the game. Moving forward the game had a weapon system with Handguns or different weapons with ammo and these weapons needed ammo some of which can be found on the board. There is also a health system and depending on the enemy found on the board could straight kill the player or heavily injure the player and must find a way to find health packs. A big Inspiration form this game was the Video game "Fallout". 
This was the original Concept of the map however not only did it look well..... not good. Trying to come up or find a map was a bit difficult. Its also part of the reason why i decided to it be a clear and plain dessert field instead of a Haunted house add on top of the fact that Money was a little tight so buying resources wasn't really and option but i manage to compromise and continue working. But once that was taken care I had an extremely fun time creating the cards (see below) ranging from minor nuisance to completely screwing over the player. 
For me Making the cards was the most out of the project and trying to come up with ways on how to challenge the player without making them either frustrated or bored was a fun challenge. Black cards signify enemies , Yellow cards signify Health pickups, Red cards being weapons, and Grey is a simply ammo card. 
All of this in mind made for a fun project working on and I hope I took your time in viewing this project and have fun.
